Fire light through two slits. An interference pattern appears on the detector - light behaves as a wave. Reduce the intensity until individual photons are detected. Each hits a single point - light behaves as a particle. After many photons, the same interference pattern emerges from the accumulation of single-point hits.
Wave-particle duality has been called a fundamental mystery of quantum reality since 1905. BFUT Paper 23 dissolves it.
One Object, Two Aspects
In BFUT, a photon is a propagating deformation wave in the Spaticle substrate - produced by an accelerating charge and propagating at c. This wave is spatially extended. It passes through both slits simultaneously, just as any wave passes through two openings. The two partial waves combine on the far side, interfering constructively where in phase and destructively where out of phase. The interference pattern is the pattern of constructive and destructive substrate deformation.
The particle-like detection event is the irreversible coupling of the propagating substrate deformation to a detector condensation. The coupling is localised because detector condensations are localised structures. The substrate wave couples to one condensation at one location, and the extended wave pattern resolves. No observer, no consciousness, no wavefunction collapse in the mysterious sense - just an irreversible substrate coupling event.
Why the Pattern Builds Up
Each individual photon produces one detection event at a single location. The probability of coupling at each location is proportional to the substrate deformation energy density at that location - |Ψ|², the Born rule. The interference pattern emerges because deformation energy is high at constructive maxima and low at destructive minima. After many photons, the pattern of couplings reflects the pattern of substrate deformation energy.
Wave-particle duality is not a mystery about quantum reality. It is the ordinary consequence of a continuous wave in a physical medium (the propagation) coupling discretely to localised condensations embedded in that medium (the detection). The continuous and the discrete coexist because the substrate is continuous and matter is organised condensations.
