Electric charge is the most precisely measured quantity in physics. The charges of the proton and electron are equal in magnitude to better than one part in 10²¹. Charge comes in discrete multiples. It is conserved in every known interaction. The Standard Model notes all of this but cannot explain it. Charge is assigned as an empirical input.

BFUT Paper 17 derives charge from the 3+e bifurcation of Paper 16.

Charge as Substrate Circulation

In BFUT, electric charge is persistent internal circulation asymmetry of a condensation. The three-unit cooperative core of the 3+e configuration has three condensation units circulating in a closed rotational mode. This produces a net internal Spaticle flow - a circulation that extends into the surrounding field as an electromagnetic potential. The generated electron carries the complementary circulation in the opposite direction.

Quantisation and Equality

Charge quantisation follows immediately. The 3+e bifurcation always produces exactly +1 unit of circulation in the three-core and −1 unit in the balancing branch. No fractional circulations are produced by the first bifurcation. The elementary charge e is the charge corresponding to one complete condensation circulation event.

Proton-electron charge equality is circulation conservation: the total circulation before the 3+e event was zero. After the event, the three-core carries +1 and the electron carries −1. Zero is conserved. Charge equality is as exact as angular momentum conservation - exactly exact.

Why Opposite Charges Attract

Two condensations with opposite circulations are structurally complementary. When proximate, their circulation fields partially cancel each other's substrate deformation - lower total deformation energy means lower free energy means attraction. Two condensations with the same circulation are competing - their fields amplify each other's deformation when proximate - higher free energy means repulsion. Like charges repel, opposite charges attract - not as an axiom, but as a consequence of substrate free-energy dynamics.
